Crispy and delicious Garlic parmesan green beans make a great side dish. Full of garlic flavor and parmesan cheese that is roasted with the fresh green beans until crunchy. Topped with a little lemon zest for a hint of freshness, this is one of my families favorite side dish that is super easy to make!

Ingredients
  • 1 ½ pounds green beans, washed and ends trimmed
  • 1 small shallot, finely chopped
  • 4-6 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon red chili flakes (optional)
  • ½ cup parmesan cheese, freshly grated
  • zest of 1 small lemon
  • parsley, chopped
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220C).

  2. Trim the ends of the green beans and place them on a baking sheet, with the chopped shallot and garlic. Drizzle with the olive oil and stir well.

  3. Sprinkle the salt, garlic, ground black pepper and optional chili flakes over the green beans and toss to coat. Spread them out to an even layer and roast in the oven for about 10 minutes, stirring half way through.

  4. Take out the baking tray and sprinkle the green beans with the grated parmesan cheese. Bake for another 5-10 minutes, or until the parmesan cheese is melted and crispy.

  5. Grate some lemon zest over the roasted green beans and top with some chopped parsley and more sea salt and black pepper to taste. Serve immediately and enjoy!
