  • Shallots, sliced
  • Garlic, minced

  • Green beans, fresh, not frozen, washed and ends trimmed
.

Hint: Saute the green beans until done to your liking. I like a little bite to them still, if you like them softer, sauté for a few more minutes.

Substitutions and Variations

  • Mushrooms – instead of cremini mushrooms, you can use other mushrooms of choice.
  • Herbs – Top this sautéed green beans recipe with some fresh chopped parsley or herbs like sage or thyme.
  • Spicy – For a little spice, add some chili flakes to taste.
  • Oil – Instead of butter, olive oil or avocado oil, is a great alternative.
  • Onion – Another alternative to shallot is to use a small red onion or yellow onion.
  • Cheese – Top these green beans and mushrooms with some freshly grated parmesan cheese, grated mozzarella or crumbled feta cheese.
  • Vegan – To make this green bean recipe vegan, use a vegan butter or olive oil instead of the unsalted butter.
