The unbaked granola on a baking tray.

Pour the granola on a parchment paper lined baking sheet and spread in an even layer. Bake until golden and crispy.

The granola will become a little crisper when it cools down. Once it is cooled completely, store it in an air tight container. I love to serve this granola over some creamy yoghurt or as a topping to overnight oats or chia pudding.

Hint: Make sure you bake the granola long enough to become crispy, but not burnt. So watch it carefully for the last couple of minutes.

FAQ

Why is my homemade granola not crunchy?

The granola needs to dry out properly to get a crunchy texture. Don’t bake in too hot of a temperature and make sure to stir well and keep the granola in one even layer.

What’s the difference between muesli and granola?

Granola and muesli have similar ingredients and therefore similar health benefits. The big difference is the texture. Granola is baked and often has added sweeteners and muesli usually doesn’t. Muesli is also unbaked.

Is eating homemade granola healthy?

Store bought granola can often contain a lot of sugar and added fat. When you make homemade granola, what goes in it, is up to you! This apple granola is naturally sweetened with dates and apple and just a little coconut oil for crunch.
