Air Fryer Granola is really quick and easy to make. Enjoy your own healthy, homemade granola in only 15 min!
I love making homemade granola and have many recipes for oven baked granola like Healthy Salted Caramel Granola or this Chocolate Banana Granola. But now when I tried it in the air fryer its so easy and fast to make! It is also nice to make in the summer because I don’t have to turn on the oven and turn my kitchen into an oven as well 🙂
Ingredients to make this Air Fryer Granola:
Here’s the Ingredients you need to make your own homemade granola (measurements are in the full recipe at the bottom of this post)
- Coconut oil
- Maple syrup, or you can use another liquid sweetener. Honey also woks well if you aren’t vegan
- Peanut butter, I use a creamy all natural brand. Almond or other nut butter works as well. Or try my homemade Pecan Almond Butter
- Pinch of salt, I use a good pinch of sea salt
- Rolled oats, also known as old fashion oats. Quick cooking oats don’t work well in this recipe because of the finer texture. Use an oat that is robust in character for a chunky and crunchy granola.
- Mixed natural nuts, I use a mix of walnuts, hazelnuts, almonds and sometimes pecans and even some pecans, Use your favourite nuts here, a great option to use up those last ones in the container.
- Mixed seeds, again, use your favourites. I buy a ready made mix that includes pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, flax seeds and poppy seeds.
- Dried fruit, I used a mix that had raisins, sultanas, cranberries, mango, pineapple and coconut. Use a mix or just stick to your favourite.
Instructions:
Start by stirring together the oil, maple syrup and peanut butter. If it doesn’t come together you can heat it for a couple of seconds in the microwave and then stir again.
Add the mixture to the oats and nuts and stir until well combined.
Cut a parchment paper to fit the base of the air-fryer. Cut a few small holes so that the hot air can circulate.
Pour the granola mixture on top of the parchment paper and spread it out in an even layer.
Fry for 5 min, then stir in the seeds. Air fry for another 6 minutes and then pour out the granola on a baking sheet. Stir in the dried fruit and let the granola cool down.
Ones cooled store the granola in an air tight container for about 2-3 weeks.
Tips for making this Granola:
- Be careful not to burn the granola! The air fryer cooks fast and is very efficient so keep an eye on it while it cooks and be sure to shake it often.
- Use traditional rolled oats (old-fashioned oats). Quick cooking oats don’t work well in this recipe because of the finer texture. Use an oat that is robust in character for a chunky and crunchy granola.
- Test the granola and make sure it has the texture you like! It will get a little crunchier as it cools down.
- Try different flavour combinations of the nuts and dried fruit.
- This granola is not overly sweet, if you like yours sweeter try adding a few tablespoon of either coconut sugar or brown sugar to the mix.
How to store:
- Once the granola has cooled down completely, spoon it into an airtight container, it will keep for up to 2 weeks. I like to keep mine in a glass jar for easy snack access, yes… I grab a handful straight out of the jar!
- You can also freeze granola! Use a freezer friendly ziplock bag and push out as much air as possible. Keep in the freezer for around 2 months. Let the granola defrost before eating. It won’t be as crunchy as when you first make it but still good.
How to serve this air fryer granola:
- With yoghurt and fresh berries
- Serve with ice cold milk
- Use as a topping to chia pudding, pancakes, muffins etc
- Or do like me, grab a spoonful as a snack straight out of the jar!
Can I make this granola even if I don’t have an air fryer?
Yes you sure can! This granola can also be baked in the oven. Follow the directions in the recipe and add the granola mixture to a parchment paper covered baking sheet. Spread it out in an even layer and then bake at 160C (325°F) for 20 min, stir a couple of times while it bakes. Stir in the seeds and bake agin for about 5-10 min, stirring once or twice. Take the granola out of the oven and stir in the dried fruit. Let the granola cool down completely and then store in an air tight container.
