Banana Bread Oatmeal

Making creamy banana oatmeal in the microwave is super easy. Perfect for a busy weekday morning when you still want something warming and filling.

More quick oatmeal recipes to try are Matcha Latte Oatmeal and this Açai Blueberry Oatmeal or Strawberry Banana Oatmeal.

Ingredients

  • Quick cooking oats, use certified gluten-free oats to keep this breakfast gluten-free
  • Water
  • Almond milk, I love unsweetened almond milk and use it in most of my recipes. You can also substitute for any other kind of plant based milk, or regular milk for non vegan. If you like the oatmeal a little creamier, you can add a little more almond milk after you cooked it in the microwave.
  • Very ripe banana, you want those brown spots for the sweetness and creamy texture
  • Cinnamon, ads a lovely flavour along with the banana
  • Pinch of salt, a little salt enhances the flavours in this oatmeal

How to make Banana Cinnamon Oatmeal

Start by mashing ½ the banana in a microwave safe bowl.

Then stir in the rest of the ingredients. Add all the other ingredients, cook on hight heat in the microwave.

When it’s cooked, carefully remove it from the microwave, the bowl might be hot. Stir the creamy banana oatmeal well, then let it sit for a minute and then stir again. If you like creamier oats add a little more almond milk.

Add some toppings from the list below and enjoy!

Toppings

  • Banana slices
  • Almonds or other chopped nuts
  • Chia seeds and other
  • Fresh berries, like blueberries, raspberries or strawberries
  • Strawberry chia jam
  • Chocolate chips

Top tip

If you like a creamier Banana Cinnamon Oatmeal or looser texture, stir in some extra almond or oat milk when it’s done cooking.
