These Roasted Plums are one of the easiest ways to turn fresh plums into a delicious dessert or breakfast. The plums are roasted with a drizzle of honey and a little cinnamon until soft and caramelized around the edges, and the juices create a naturally sweet sauce.

This Honey Roasted Plum recipe is super easy to make and really brings out the natural sweetness of the plumbs. Here I have used a variety of different plumbs, use your favourite or what is available at the store.
Serve these oven roasted plums warm, straight from the oven with Greek yogurt and some crunchy nuts or granola for a healthy breakfast. Or over vanilla ice cream, whipped cream for a decedent dessert made with minimal effort. Just like these honey roasted peaches or these Roasted strawberries.

Ingredients
This roasted plum recipe is super easy to make with only 3 ingredients. For the full written recipe with the ingredient measurements, scroll down to view the recipe card at the bottom of the page.

- Plums, Choose ripe, but still slightly firm plums so they don’t fall apart when cut. Use red, yellow, green or purple plums, depending on what is in season and available.
- Honey, Use a runny honey for this recipe. It adds sweetness and helps the plums caramelize as they roast. For a vegan dish, use maple syrup.
- Cinnamon, A hint of warming cinnamon complements the fresh flavor of the plums really well.
See recipe card for quantities.

Substitutions and Variations
- Sweetener – The honey goes really well with the peaches to bring out their natural sweetness. Another option is using maple syrup or brown sugar. Adjust to taste depending on the sweetness of the plums.
- Spices – Cinnamon is delicious with roasted plums, but you can also add a pinch of cardamom for a different flavor.
- Vanilla – Add a splash of vanilla extract or a little vanilla paste before roasting for extra warmth and sweetness.
- Citrus – A little lemon or orange zest can be grated over the roasted plums for a fresh, bright flavor. It pairs beautifully with plums and honey.
- Nuts – For a little extra crunch, top with chopped walnuts, almonds or pecans. Some toasted seeds are also a good option.
- Fruit – This recipe also works well with peaches or nectarines. Adjust the roasting time depending on the size and ripeness of the fruit. Also see this Honey Roasted Peaches recipe.

What to serve with roasted plums
There are so many ways to serve these roasted plums. Either for a healthy dessert or part of a wholesome breakfast. Here are some of my favourites:
- For a dessert: Serve these roasted plums warm Vanilla ice cream, Whipped cream or some Mascarpone.
- Greek yogurt with some homemade Granola like this Maple Pecan Granola or some chopped nuts.
- Oatmeal or overnight oats like this Brown sugar overnight oats recipe.
- Pancakes, they make a wonderful topping served on these Greek Yoghurt Pancakes.
- Toast, Serve on a pice of toast with some cream cheese or ricotta or instead of the peaches in this Honey Roasted Peach Toast recipe.
- Chia pudding, makes a wonderful topping to recipes like this Cinnamon Chia Pudding.

Storage
Allow the roasted plums to cool down completely, then transfer them to an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 3–4 days.
The roasted plums can also be frozen, store them in a freezer-safe container. Thaw them in the fridge, tastes great when reheated a little in the microwave before serving.

Top Tip
Don’t over bake the plums. They should be soft and juicy, but still hold their shape. The exact time in the oven will depend on the ripeness, and size of the plums, so start checking them toward the end of the roasting time.
The amount of honey can be adjusted depending on how naturally sweet your plums are. If they are a little tart, drizzle over some extra honey to taste or a little brown sugar.

FAQ
No, the skin helps the plums hold their shape as they cook. So leave the peel on the plums.
Yes, you can roast plums that are a little under ripe. Roasting them will soften the plum and bring out their natural sweetness. If they are a little tart, add some more honey or maple syrup.
Yes you can. Instead of honey, maple syrup or brown sugar can be used.
If you don’t want to add any sweetener at all, I recommend adding a water to the bottom of the pan (or the juice of an orange) to help release the juices of the plums. They won’t be as sweet, or caramelize as much, but still delicious!
